We know that so many people are curious about Growing Well, the activities we undertake with our volunteers and, well, everything that happens on our three Cumbrian sites.
So on Sunday 8th June, between 10am – 3pm, we’re inviting the general public to come and find out for themselves at our Open Day at our Low Sizergh site near Kendal.
Admission to our Open Day is completely free, and the day will be a great opportunity to meet the Growing Well team, find out about their work and even get some advice for your own garden or allotment.
On a ‘field walk’ you will hear about how our team and beneficiaries work to make the best use of the outdoor beds and polytunnels, growing produce for our Crop Share veg box scheme and wholesale customers.
There are activities for children (and grown ups), with plants available to buy and a pre-loved book stall.
Worm Composting Workshop
We are delighted to be joined by Anna de la Vega from ‘The Urban Worm‘ for an informative talk and interactive workshop. Here you can build a mini worm farm made from repurposed materials, and learn how to love and care for your worms to ensure a successful worm farming journey.
The session will cover how to harvest your worm manure (aka worm castings), and how best to apply to help your plants thrive without the need for artificial fertilisers.
Please note that this is a FREE workshop, however we do require pre-booking as spaces are limited.
